Tongzi Women's Federation Promotes Sex-Health Education

ByYao Yao and Lei Yang June 5, 2022

Tongzi Women's Federation, in Southwest China's Guizhou Province, has cooperated with Girls Protection, a special fund to promote anti-sexual abuse education, to organize regular sex-health courses for minors in Tongzi. To provide the Girls Protection courses, a team of volunteers, composed of teachers in Tongzi, was formed. The federation has coordinated the use of funds, offered by Tongzi's education commission and relevant departments, to provide teachers with training. Each school in Tongzi has at least one teacher who can teach sex-health courses. Several departments have been working together to offer closed-loop, "one-stop" services, which include prevention of sexual abuse, provision of rights-protection services, and care for minors who are victims of sexual abuse. Some 205 sex-health courses were provided in primary or middle schools, and in various villages and communities, in Tongzi during 2021.
